I’m such a fan of the summer time.. especially around here. I can go to the beach whenever I want, I LOVE the hot weather (I probably wouldn’t if I worked outside), and I love cooling down with a jump in the pool. Also, during the summer I like to eat a bit on the lighter side.
Fresh melons and berries are some of the perks about living around here during the summer. I just bought some fresh-grown cantaloupes and watermelon, and they were absolutely delish. I chopped up one of the cantaloupes, put it in a Zip-Lock and threw it in the freezer for later.
Little did I know I’d use it so soon. The folks over at herbalpapaya.com were nice enough to send me a sample pack of some of their products, and I fell in love with this superfood that I’d been missing! The teas are amazing, and my favorite was the papaya seed powder! I didn’t know such a thing existed, but its a new favorite!
I couldn’t wait to try the stuff, so I decided to use my makin’s for a smoothie and make a summer-inspired smoothie. You can taste the papaya flavor in each sip, and its a vibrant, tropical flavor that I need more of in my life! It’s not only super delish, but it’s GOOD for you! It helps out your intestinal health, and you can mix it in about anything you want!
If you want to rim the top of your glass like mine, carefully squeeze honey around the top of the glass, then dip it in to some toasted coconut. There’s seriously nothing better than toasted coconut flakes, I LOVE using them for toppings on smoothies. I toast a bunch at a time and keep a bag of it in the fridge. I always add protein to my smoothie, so I usually buy the vanilla flavored protein powder, it will go with anything! You can leave it out if you aren’t a fan. Also, like any smoothie, the ingredients can be easily subsitiuted. I would have loved to add some watermelon (if I hadn’t already eaten it all), but the flavor combos here were absolutely perfect. I enjoyed every single sip!

- Add banana, cantaloupe, mango, protein powder, and papaya seed powder to your smoothie blending cup. Blend as much as you can, shaking if needed. Add Greek yogurt, honey, and pineapple. Pour over coconut milk until the container is almost full. (I only needed about ¼ cup).
- Blend until smooth, pausing a few times to shake if needed.
- *For the rimmed glass, before pouring in smoothie, spread a thin layer of toasted coconut flakes on a paper plate. Squeeze a small amount of honey around the edge of a glass, and turn over into the coconut. Then fill with your smoothie.
